Weight Management
Weight and body image are sensitive subjects for both men and women. In addition to body dysmorphia, anorexia and bulimia, weight gain is a particularly common topic among many of my clients. Counselling in this area is beneficial once clients have determined that there are no specific biological causes for the problem.
A large segment of the world’s population struggles with emotional eating. For many of us, turning to comfort food is a way to quickly cope with stress. But, long-term, this strategy is not effective. We tend to feel guilty about our response and unhappy with our bodies. Yet the stress remains and often builds. The more stress we experience, the more cortisol our adrenal glands secrete, which can lead to many symptoms, including weight gain.
In my practice, I focus on healthy minds and healthy bodies being interdependent. We will work together to
- identify your emotional eating triggers
- address the root of the stress
- develop healthier responses to the stress
- make small adjustments to your lifestyle to promote health both mentally and physically.
