Marriage and Relationship Counselling
Let’s be honest. All couples argue. Marriage and relationship counselling is not only for those in marriages or partnerships that appear to be failing. It is for any couple who want their relationship to achieve its maximum potential.
Who needs couples counselling? Many believe that couples who have been together for many years are the most likely to need counselling. It is true that this segment of the population is most likely to seek counselling. However, even couples in the honeymoon phase or in the first few years of commitment can benefit from couples counselling when things just don’t seem to be clicking. The earlier the intervention, the higher the likelihood of a smoother relationship going forward. This certainly does not mean there is no hope for couples who have been having problems for an extended period. Simply that there will be more to work through.
The issues that cause stumbling blocks in relationships are numerous, including sex, finances, quality time, family, parenting, infidelity, anger, stress, etc.
Couples counselling is a particular passion of mine. I am energised by the possibilities that can be unlocked in stagnating or strained relationships. Counselling is useful in repairing and/or strengthening marriages or partnerships.
Together, we will work to
- determine the obstacles (both apparent and unspoken) in the relationship
- devise practical ways to address these obstacles
- enhance communication skills
- learn new approaches to resolving conflict
- improve intimacy.
