Anger Management
We all get angry from time to time. But where is the line between anger that is “normal” and anger that is “problematic”?
Symptoms of problematic anger can include:
- overreactions to everyday challenges
- physical effects (high blood pressure, headaches, insomnia, digestion problems, etc.)
- physical and verbal abuse (towards oneself or others)
- emotional effects (anxiety, depression, feeling out of control)
- social effects (friends and family may pull away)
- employment challenges (warnings or job loss due to angry outbursts at work)
- increased suicide risk.
Anger management is a particular area of interest for me as a counsellor. As is evident from the list above, uncontrolled anger can affect every aspect of a person’s life. Clients are always amazed at how anger management counselling (and the tools they learn during the process) can radically change their entire lives.
